IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK...

The biggest resume mistake to avoid is not getting an external perspective jpeg

If I told you that there was a mistake on your resume what would be the first thing that comes to mind? Like most people you're probably thinking that perhaps there's a typo or a grammatical error - right?

What if I also told you that the single biggest mistake most people make with their resumes is not getting an external perspective on it.

IT'S A MISTAKE MOST OF US MAKE

You're all set. You've written your resume and you've had all your friends, your spouse, your colleagues, and maybe even your mother looks at it. They all say the same thing - "It looks good to me." Now you are confident and start sending it out - but nothing happens. Three weeks later, still nothing has happened. You think, It can't be the resume. Everyone said it was good.

Hold it right there. Let's take off the rose-colored glasses and look at this situation objectively. You poured your heart and soul into a resume that you OBVIOUSLY feel is good. But are friends, family, and colleagues in any kind of objective position to give you useful feedback? Do they know what the hiring managers in today's market and your target industry are looking for in a good candidate? Can they compare what you have to offer to the skills and abilities of the hundreds of other job seekers who are competing against you? No.

Boss Camp

Are you applying for a management position? When you first get promoted to management, maybe if you’re lucky you might get leadership training. Now leadership training is great but learning about vision, values, culture etc. won’t help you to deal with the day-to-day problems that every manager has to face. That’s why WWW.BOSS.CAMP was invented. The program includes topics such as:

  • How to motivate employees,
  • What are bad employee motivators,
  • What you must do as a manager but isn't on your job description,
  • How leaders get power.
