Managing is about getting people to do what you want them to do.

This is one of the most difficult things to do. Experienced managers have taken years to learn about managing (often the hard way). And we forget what a difficult transition it is to go from being an individual contributor to managing staff. I studied business but the one thing I really wish that I had learnt about at the beginning of my career was how to manage people effectively.

In the Articles I've Demonstrated:

  • How difficult managing staff is and why most managers have staff problems;
  • More than half of your staff are unengaged and this is costing you time and money;
  • There are some totally ineffective management techniques such as asking someone "why" they did something wrong and;
  • In the power of positive feedback I showed that there are some quick, easy, non-confrontational methods that are highly effective when you know how.

That's why I've made the www.boss.camp program. Being a boss is a tough job - you have the world on the shoulders. You are the super hero that keeps the lights on and the team together. Boss Camp is support for super hero’s like you so you can get your team to do more of their jobs, leaving you time to do your own.

But I'm not sure that I'm talking to the right person here and to make the work place a happier place, I need your help to spread the message. Do you know someone who could use some help with managing staff? This could be a new manager or someone trying to make the transition into management. Or it might even be an experienced manager who's having difficulties with their staff for whatever reason.

Imagine what a difference it would've made to you if you could've learnt management skills at the start of your career.
